Usually I use a trick I learnt I don't remember where.

The best way to make a "safe" password is:

First sillable of the website the password is for; year of your birthday or marriage or whatever; a word special for you.

Thus appearing something like: go1953sex. It's easy to remember, and a bit harder to crack, and it changes with every website.
